As well as your Personal Advisor, you can also speak to the Employability Officer (in the Children Looked After Team Education Team) who can support you to access education, employment or training.

Work experience opportunities

Knowsley Council is providing paid work experience opportunities for care leavers in a range of roles across the council.  Placements are matched according to your qualifications and interests with many opportunities available. As well as giving you real, paid work experience, you will be supported throughout the placement by a Knowsley Works mentor and a Personal Advisor.

When the council employs other companies to carry out work, it will ask the company about job / volunteering opportunities for you.

Knowsley Works can help you to develop your CV, prepare you for interviews through to job searches and training courses.

Vibe offer a range of support to help you into employment, from volunteering opportunities, through to developing a CV, interview skills and jobs searches.

A designated officer works in the Job Centre to support care leavers accessing job opportunities.

The Knowsley Apprentice provides apprenticeship opportunities across a range of sectors in Knowsley for young people aged 16 to 24 years. Apprenticeship opportunities are advertised in mid-June for a September start.

Knowsley Community College provides the latest in technology and skills spaces, enabling you to progress on to Higher Education or work.

Centre 63 provides training and employability courses. They work young people to develop their literacy and numeracy skills.
